Agents, make sure your business clients understand the importance of timely reporting workplace injuries to their workers’ comp carrier.

Under Florida law, employers must report work-related injuries or illnesses to their workers’ compensation insurance carrier within seven days of the accident. Employers who miss this deadline can be fined by the State of Florida up to $2,000 if care to the injured worker is delayed.

Even if an injury seems minor, it’s always best to report it and allow the insurance carrier to determine the next steps.
