The sale of supplies for outdoor activities as well as tickets for some events will be tax-free in Florida beginning Thursday, July 1 through Wednesday, July 7, 2021. On these dates, qualifying boating and water activity supplies, camping supplies, fishing supplies, general outdoor supplies, and sports equipment will not be subject to the Florida sales tax.  Tickets to music events, sporting events, cultural events, specified performances, movies, museums, state parks, and gyms will also be sold tax-free for these seven days.

Retailers selling these items should report the sales as “exempt sales” on their sales tax return.

The specific supplies that will be tax-free are:

Boating and water activity supplies:
 
On the first $25 of the sales price: goggles, snorkels and swimming masks

On the first $50 of the sales price: safety flares

On the first $75 of the sales price: coolers, oars, life jackets and paddles  

On the first $150 of the sales price: kneeboards, wakeboards, water skis and inflatable recreational water tubes and floats capable of being towed 

On the first $300 of the sales price: paddleboards and surfboards  

On the first $500 of the sales price: canoes and kayaks
 
Camping supplies:

On the first $30 of the sales price: camping lanterns and flashlights

On the first $50 of the sales price: camping stoves, collapsible camping chairs, portable hammocks and sleeping bags

On the first $200 of the sales price: tents

Fishing supplies:

On the first $5 of the sales price if sold individually or the first $10 of the sales price if multiple items are sold together: bait and fishing tackle

On the first $30 of the sales price: bags and tackle boxes

On the first $75 of the sales price if sold individually or the first $150 of the sales price if sold as a set: reels and rods

General outdoor supplies:

On the first $15 of the sales price: insect repellant and sunscreen

On the first $30 of the sales price: water bottles

On the first $50 of the sales price: bicycle helmets for adults (youth helmets are always exempt from sales tax) and hydration packs

On the first $100 of the sales price: sunglasses

On the first $200 of the sales price: binoculars

On the first $250 of the sales price: bicycles and grills

Sports equipment:

Selling for $40 or less: any item used in individual or team sports, not including clothing or footwear
