Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program Reopens


The US Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are for small businesses experiencing a loss of revenue due to the coronavirus. Small businesses can also apply for a $10,000 EIDL advance that does not have to be repaid. The SBA is now accepting new EIDL applications.

Deadline to Apply for a PPP Loan Extended


The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provides loans to businesses to pay for certain expenses like payroll, rent, and utilities.  PPP loans can be forgiven and do not have to be paid back if the loan is used for approved expenses.

The deadline to apply for a PPP loan has been extended to August 8, 2020.

PPP Loan Forgiveness Applications Available


The updated PPP loan forgiveness application [Form 3508] is available from the US Small Business Administration, and the instructions are available here. For instructions in Spanish, click here.

There is a simplified application [Form 3508EZ] available for employers who have not reduced their number of employees or their employees’ wages by more than 25%.
 


Face Coverings Required in Many Cities and Counties


Due to the spread of the coronavirus in Florida, more and more counties and cities are requiring that masks or face coverings to be worn inside businesses. Some of these local laws require employers to post a notice telling their employees and customers that they must wear a mask or face covering while inside the business.

As a service to our members, FUBA has designed a generic mask poster that can be printed for free here in English and here in Spanish.

Even if your business is not located in an area where masks are required, you may choose to require that all customers and employees wear masks, and you can put these mask posters up at your workplace as reminders. 

Both OSHA and the CDC recommend the use of masks or face coverings to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
 

Miami-Dade County Imposes New Restrictions on Restaurants

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Miami-Dade county, there are new restrictions on restaurants. Restaurants cannot offer inside dining (delivery or take out only) and outside dining must be limited to 4 people per table. Dining hours are limited to 6 am to 10 pm.
