Big businesses have traditionally dominated the state political arena through their campaign contributions and private lobbyists. For small businesses to be heard, they must work together and speak with one collective voice.
One of FUBA’s primary roles is representing Florida’s small business community before the Florida Legislature and regulatory agencies. Over the past three decades, the strength of our membership has grown and with this growth has come increased influence in the Florida Legislature. Now more than ever, you as a small business owner, can have your voice heard in Tallahassee through your membership in FUBA.
As the Small Business Watchdog, FUBA speaks to lawmakers and regulators with the collective clout of thousands of small businesses statewide. We get results by focusing the concerns and voting power of our membership directly to decision-makers.
Serving as your voice in Tallahassee, FUBA ensures that your concerns about running a small business in Florida will be heard by lawmakers. Our top legislative priorities are:
We oppose expanding the range of services that are subject to the state sales tax.
We recognize that the cost of quality health insurance for employees of small businesses continues to increase. FUBA opposes any changes that will add to the cost of health insurance in Florida, and we support efforts made to lower the overall cost to employers and employees who choose to purchase such coverage.
We oppose any attempt to expand eligibility requirements for unemployment compensation benefits. Our members do not want their unemployment tax dollars used to support workers who voluntarily leave or quit their jobs.
